As inflation continues to rise, many condominium corporations are facing significant reserve fund shortfalls.

CMRAO Releases New Practice Guide on Procurement and Contractor Oversight

The Condominium Management Regulatory Authority of Ontario (CMRAO) has released its second official practice guide: Procurement and Contractor Oversight: A Practice Guide for Condominium Managers.

This comprehensive resource provides condominium managers and management companies with practical tools for navigating procurement, contractor oversight, and fiduciary responsibilities. It builds on the success of the first guide, Financial Management: A Practice Guide for Condominium Managers, released in February 2025.

The new guide supports condominium managers in:

  • Understanding their legal duty to repair and maintain condominium assets
  • Prioritizing building issues strategically and transparently
  • Navigating fiduciary obligations when procuring goods and services
  • Establishing efficient and compliant procurement processes
  • Ensuring protection of condominium clients’ best interests

We are especially proud that our very own Lyndsey McNally contributed as a co-author of this important guide, alongside fellow industry expert Stacey Kurck.

As a companion to the release, the CMRAO will host a webinar on September 4, presented by Lyndsey and Stacey. The session will provide further insight into the development of the guide and share best practices with condominium managers across Ontario.
